Hummingbirds can fly upside down , forward and backward
Yes, Hummingbirds can fly upside down, forward and backward. This is possible because of their rotator cuff i.e. the special ball socket joint where the wings are joint to the body.
with the help of this, they can move their wing by 180 degrees and also in a motion similar to figure eight (8) or infinity (∞). This allows them to fly upside down and forward as well as backward. Their wings can flap at a rate of about 80 beats per second, and their heart rates can reach up to 1,260 beats per minute.
